From the moment David Thompson enrolled in college, he knew he wanted to graduate as a member of law enforcement. For him, a career where he could dedicate his time to helping others and protecting those in need seemed like an ideal career choice, and for four years he threw himself wholeheartedly into pursuing his dream. However, despite his dedication, his goal of joining law enforcement failed to come to fruition: when his curriculum required him to participate in a ride-along program in order to graduate, he quickly realized that the desire to become an officer of the law and actually serving as one were two different things entirely. That’s how, despite going through his entire college career with the singular goal of joining law enforcement, Dave’s post-graduation job search led him towards the world of financial services.
Despite this shift in professional paths, however, David never lost his respect and admiration for those serving in law enforcement; if anything, after seeing what they had to experience on a daily basis, his admiration for them increased. Alongside his business partner Jimmy, a former Treasury Agent for the DC division of the ATF, he began to host seminars geared towards educating members of law enforcement on the unique challenges they face in the financial sphere. When Jimmy made the choice to retire from the seminars, Dave fully took them over, channeling his combined knowledge of both the law enforcement world and the financial services one into educational content that tackled the often-neglected issues first responders face financially. It is through these seminars that he first met up with Barry and Jason, and together the three of them combined their passions to form Madison Financial Strategies. Even though David couldn’t become a part of law enforcement himself, he takes pride in knowing that the work he does today plays a valuable role in serving the first responders who dedicate their lives to serving us.
